dancehALL wins Danza Urbana XL 2025
The Lost Movement Company is pleased to announce that dancehALL, a 2024 creation by Nicolò Abbattista and Christian Consalvo, is among the winning creations of Danza Urbana XL 2025.
As stated on the official website:
Four creations have been selected as winners of the tenth edition of the Danza Urbana XL initiative by the Selection Committee composed of the Network Anticorpi XL partners participating in the 2025 program:
- dancehALL by Nicolò Abbattista and Christian Consalvo, for its tribute to dance and social interaction through the rhythm of four dances – salsa, cha cha cha, jive, and polka- which, when deconstructed, compose a choreography capable of engaging diverse audiences.
- HIT OUT by Parini Secondo x Bienoise, for its ability to develop an original aesthetic that transforms rope skipping into a physical and sound score for public spaces and unconventional venues, characterized by skill, endurance, and synchrony.
- GOOD VIBES ONLY (beta test) by Francesca Santamaria, for the invention of a choreographic device for informal spaces that, through the concept of scrolling and the free trial model, explores the relationship between performativity and consumption.
- THAT’S ALL by Davide Tagliavini, for a creation for “other” places – made of physicality, flashes, changes of state and color – that opens up to transformation and unpredictability, captivating the viewer’s gaze.
In reviewing the submitted applications, the Committee – composed of Alessandro Bevilacqua, Cristiana Camba, Natalia Casorati, Valeria Ciabattoni, Luisa Cuttini, Dario D’Agata, Gemma Di Tullio, Lucia Franchi, Christel Grillo, Luca Nava, Velvet Randon, Daniele Sepe, and coordinated by Massimo Carosi and Selina Bassini – considered only those applications consistent with the circuit offered by the call, which is dedicated to creations for non-theatrical spaces.
Danza Urbana XL provides a programming and visibility space for the creations of choreographers who explore forms of performance outside theatrical conventions and designated spaces, immersing themselves in everyday locations, public spaces, and—more generally—the urban landscape, ensuring a minimum of three performances for each selected work among the festivals, shows, and seasons of the 13 participating partners.
The 2025 edition of the initiative is shared by: AMAT – Associazione Marchigiana Attività Teatrali, Associazione Arteven, Associazione Basilicata 1799, Associazione CapoTrave/Kilowatt, Associazione IterCulture, Associazione Mosaico Danza, Cantieri Danza, C.E.D.A.C., Circuito CLAPS, Consorzio Puglia Culture, Coop Maya inc /FIND Festival, Danza Urbana ETS, Fondazione Teatro Comunale Città di Vicenza.
